I thought Kindergarten students were complimenting me on my fashion sense. I used a wide black ribbon as a belt. When they said, “I like your black belt” I didn’t realize right away they thought I was a martial arts expert. It wasn’t until they practiced their own moves did I realize what they meant. I am a little ashamed to admit that I didn’t correct their misunderstanding. I wonder if more children in Oregon practice martial arts since lessons are held indoors and out of the rain?
